I am trying to find a book i read several years ago (like, about
eleven).  It is a juvenile book about a group of scientifically-
inclined neighbourhood kids who take on the local mob.  They call
themselves VACUUM (i forget what it stands for) and there is a
girl they call the VACUUM BAG (Beautiful Assistant Gangbuster).
The only scene i can remember is where they are flying in an air-
plane race in an old DeHavilland biplane so they can photograph
the mobsters' hideout (look, i said it was juvenile).  Ring any
bells?  [NOTE:  the answer is NOT  The Mad Scientists' Club]
