I hadn't looked closely at the manual page, and didn't see the fact that there is a '+' and '-' for constants in certain primaries. Therefore, my argument about having to generate an infinite sequence for the find expression are meaningless. Still, it would have been nice if the awk script referred to in the response was given, so that fools such as myself wouldn't be so quick to temper when seeing suggestions torn apart. David Elliott
