There was an Aven- gers story, and more important, a Defenders story that was the prequel to the Limited Series. The "rip-off" of the JLA "just happened." It seemed to evolve rather than starting out deliberatly, but there were interesting similarities and differences. That's okay, however, since the story's kind of cute. I like such touches as Arcanna/Zatanna as married with kids (and a cat named "Crowley"); far more friendly than in the DC universe where there are few married couples (how I wish Bruce Wayne would tie the knot with Selina Kyle in the DC universe and settle down to raise a few bittens). However, there are at least 11 more issues so that the Marvel scripters can mess it up if they've a mind to. Stee Kallis, Jr.
