You will most likely have to pay more but the superior performance and reliability make it worth it. This is assuming that you intend to have it several years, if you are going to sell your house and leave it the investment would be lost. One feature most people overlook is the method of drying used by a dishwasher. To the best of my knowledge the Kitchen Aid is the only one that does not have an exposed heating coil in the bottom. It blows heated air in through concealed ducts. This is important because you occasionally have small items knocked out of the baskets the pressure of the water jets and they fall to the bottom. If they are plastic or wood they will be destroyed by that heating coil when the drying cycle starts. You not only lose the item but are also greated with some foul odors and the possibility of a fire. Its possible that other brands may have this feature but I have never seen one. M. S. Simpkins
