I'd like to get him a cookbook, but I haven't yet found one I like in the bookstores - they're either specialty books or immense. I found one that was written for students but it assumed a lot of knowledge that I don't know if my son has, (eg., I think he can chop onions without chopping fingers, but a cutting board makes it more certain). The book I want would have clear instructions and descriptions of basic kitchen techniques (and advice on buying supplies too), written for the intelligent but inexperienced adult who just wants to get the job done (ie. not for a child or the hobbyist who likes cooking for its own sake) and it would have recipes suitable for one person. Please reply by mail - if I get a list, I'll summarize it for the net. --Carolyn J. Clark Bitnet: CJC at PSUVM UUCP : :allegra, akgua, ihnp4:!psuvax!CJC@PSUVM.BITNET ARPA : cjc%psuvm.BITNET@Berkeley
