It is made by pulverizing walnuts, frying it slightly, and simmering it for about an hour with boiled chicken pieces (and other stuff such as onions, spices, etc.). The result, called Fesendjan Stew, is a dark brown, rather runny, gooey stew that simply looks like, uh , well, sh*t! It is absolutely delicious, does not taste anything like walnuts, has pleasantly surprised anybody who has tried it, and is my wife's favorite dish.
