But what I really enjoyed was Wheat Hearts (put out by General Mills). I grew up in Oregon where WH was readily available, but I have yet to see it in Boston. Conse- quently, I always buy it when I'm "home". Is there anything equivalent else equivalent to it? I am relieved to see that I'm not the only one who had homemade rootbeer growing up! As I recall, we used green wine bottles to make it in. The fermentation time was long, and we had to turn the bottles periodically. I remember, too, the yeast that was left in the bottom of the bottle. Was this common to anyone else? Or did we do something wrong?
