Don't use the recommended 10W30 oil ever. Keep a constant 40 in at all times. Don't put an aux. driving light on your machine. It was a combination of these two things that lead to a burnt out generator. Went to the dealer and he says it happens to Visions -- they get too hot with thin oil, and if you are running more that *100W* of accessories *in total* you will crisp the coils. He also says that some Yamaha Venturers have the same problem. After all, they are just a double vision!
