In talking to some friends at hi-tech businessess, their managers tend to hire Orientals (Asians also implies Indians, Iranians, et. cetera) because of: (a) far lower job-hopping (& company loyality) (b) (managers' perception) higher throughput w/less complaints (c) willingness to work hard and adopt to alien environments Also, their rather consistent character (see stereotype) makes it rather easy to predict future performance (my opinion, but based on a pretty good sample size (~2500) in our school).
