There seems to be two fundamental differences between Mondale and Reagan:

	1.  Reagan will not refer to his giveaway programs as the 
	    welfare they are. 
	2.  In the Reaganoid visions, wealthy corporations, esp. those
	    in the "defense" business, are the only fit subjects for
	    domestic government handouts.

In terms of relative amounts of bullshit, Reagan is the winner.
Though Reagan tries to blame everyone else, it is the *REAGAN DEFICIT* that
we are all suffering from.

If you want to talk about *anal retentives* let's talk about the Hon.
Jesse Helms, who is against welfare, etc., unless the recipient happens
to be a tobacco farmer, defense contractor, or corrupt fascist dictator-
ship. 

The right wing (both demo and gop) have an impressive list of pork barrels:

	+  SDI
	+  B-1 bomber
	+  CIA/totalitarian states (e.g., El Salvador, South Africa, etc.)
	+  thousands of defense contracts.

Until we "trim the fat" from the right parts of the budget, amounts like
the $400 million cited above are trivial. (What percentage of $200 billion
is $400 million?).

Only an asshole who could believe that the Grace Commission and the slashing
of the trivial amounts of aid to the unfortunates of this society* will ever
make a difference could write the totally brain-dead lines beginning with >
in this flame.
