Perhaps they go in cycles, and we're in the middle of a peak (canyon?). It seems that many netters follow a shape like a brontosaurus ("My theory, by A. Elk (Miss)"), reaching some sort of posting/reading peak in the middle somewhere, and then realizing that it's all pointless anyway, and trailing off into oblivion. Picture a random collection of 'n' jerks, who, due to the wild and random laws of nature, are all reaching their "posting peak" right this very minute ... Perhaps if we ignore them they'll all go away. Myself, I've always tended to discount the ravings of lunatics (well, except my own ravings of course ...). I mean, any reasonable person realizes these others are jerks and ignores them. Therefore, only other jerks pay atention to them anyway, so who cares?? (ooops ...)
