Colin-

To be perfectly honest, I'm not advocating the generic liberal ban on
handguns. I do, however, think you are assuming the generic conservative
notion "If you outlaw handguns only outlaws will have them" is true.
Sure I'd like a gun, maybe a bazooka, handy if someone tried to
violate my daughter, but this scenario is not as likely as one involving
a drunken argument (not that I would ever do such a thing) that escalates
to the use of firearms. 

I don't wish to deny you the use of your guns. I have fond memories of
the old camp rifle range and all that, but I read so many more articles
in my daily rag involving friends/relatives shooting each other than
some heroic Not-so-Dirty-Harry picking off the pervert that is intent
on molesting/robbing/assaulting NSDH's loved one.

Keep your guns. I'm sure you are a responsible gun owner.
B-U-U-U-U-U-U-U-U-U-U-U-U-T:

	1) Don't ignore the statistics of who usually gets shot by whom.
	   a. family members by family members
	   b. blacks by blacks

	2) Please don't get rowdy in my neighborhood with your guns available. 

	3) Don't underestimate the potential for handgun abuse.
