It occurred to me some time ago that more often than not, a man walking around a bar hitting on random women will be turned down. More often than not, a woman roaming around a bar hitting on random men will get lucky. (No I don't have any good empirical evidence, but a not-so-random sample of my friends done about 7 years ago confirmed this.) For a variety of reasons, men seem to be more interested in anonymous sexual encounters. No judgement implied here about anonymous sex per se -- it just seems to me that when we sleep with someone we hardly know, it's pretty clear that we're using that person to our own ends. -- Melinda Shore University of Chicago Computation Center uucp: ..!ihnp4!gargoyle!sphinx!shor Bitnet: shor%sphinx@uchicago.bitnet
