Hear, hear. My vote for worst place to drive is McCook, Nebraska--especially on a Saturday. It is a town of about 8000 in the extreme southwesten part of the state. It is the largest town in a radius of about 100 miles. My parents live there, so I visit sometimes. Here in Denver, we have a large population of jackasses and rude drivers. I can put up with that--it's rather pleasant sometimes to have someone to feel morally superior to. But in McCook, 40% of the drivers are over 75, and 50% are from small towns where they never see a stop light or 2 lanes (the town has both). They are in town doing their monthly shopping. The other 10% might be competent, but they don't get enough practice, and they spend a lot of time trying to avoid the other 90%. I am from Nebraska, and have found the rest of the state a joy to drive in. Lincoln and Omaha have a large population of excellent, courteous drivers. But a town that is large enough to have the amenities of a city--like stop lights--and has a large percentage of people who don't usually see those amenities can be awful. At least jackasses are somewhat predictable. P.S. I don't mean to slander McCook--in the doubtful event that some of you out there are from the place. It is a lovely town in other repects. -- Sue Brezden Real World: Room 1B17 Net World: ihnp4!drutx!slb AT&T Information Systems 11900 North Pecos Westminster, Co. 80234 (303)538-3829 ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ Send lawyers, guns, and money... -Warren Zevon ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
