This may or not help, but one time when I was trying to get a Nymph to
steal some cursed armour off of me, this happened:
I dropped everything except the cursed armour, started walking toward
the nymph, but teleported before I got there(via leppie).  On my way
back towards the nymph and my stuff, I encountered a cockatrice.
Not wanting to fight it with my bare hands, I ran.  Unfortunately,
the passage was blocked by a boulder.  I thought I was dead, but in
my haste, I hit to many 'l' keys and got this message:
"You try to move the boulder, but in vain --more--"
"You manage to squeeze though an opening."  (something like that)

Anyway, if this was not just some fluke, then it could be used to 
get the amulet.  I haven't experimented with this at all, so I
don't know if you can pick anything up while between the rock and
the wall.
