As a burnt out ham coming back to the fold, I need some info:

I want to upgrade my Tech license to a General.

Where do I get a code test in the Chicago area? I'm told
the FCC no longer does it. I've been gone several years now
after my 2 meter rig was stolen.

Also is it true the code test is "comprehension" only?
What does that mean concretely?
