I don't know anything about CD's but I do find the ICOM battery problem totally ridiculous! My Kenwood 930 has a backup battery but the only thing it is for is to hold whatever the user puts in memory. The same is true of my Azden PCS-2000 and my 2 meter handheld. The idea of a unit loosing some of its essential operating software when a battery runs down is disgusting (but then I have never been an ICOM fan anyway). Bob K9EUI
