The reason is that, for people that run notes, a directory is created with the name of the group used as the the name of the directory. On non-4.2 BSD systems, the limit the length that a directory name can be is 14 characters. net.ham-radio.packet exceeds that limit at the second period. Thus, the proposed group will get truncated to "net.ham-radio." Could you please use a name that is <= 14? ...{microsoft,ctvax}!trsvax!ron
