Nor am I concerned regarding my own netnews situation. We hear the fears about Usenet publicity time and time again -- and that (at many sites) Usenet phone bills are buried amidst the other phone bills, and that there *are* sites who would probably be cut off quite quickly if too much publicity started to surround the net. And those sites are probably the big ones -- the ones that do the most to keep the network running and help make newsgroups like this one (without any work-related content) possible. Many sites would also probably find themselves cut off by edict from above if top management ever saw some of the material in many of the groups. Forget about the cost for a moment -- many of the topics are hot enough to cause more conservative management a considerable amount of concern. Many sites apparently exist solely by virtue of their "low profile" within their corporate structures. I make all my own decisions about how I want to handle netnews. I don't have any management to worry about. But there are lots of other sites that aren't so "lucky." They have quite a bit to worry about when it comes to Usenet publicity. --Lauren--
