Appreciated, that is, when the followup adds something to the discussion. So, a modest proposal: Why not put the quoted article at the end of a followup instead of at the beginning? Then those of us who have read the original can skip it. Of course, it doesn't hurt to edit the quoted material, even when it is at the end.
