Are you constantly turning your AT on and off?  You could be causing
the mechanical problems.  I (and this is just my opinion) think
powercycling the machine regularly probably causes a lot of the disk
problems also.  My AT has been powercycled maybe 10 times since November,
No disk problems, no mechanical problems - the biggest problems we have
had are a bad floppy and the terrible software.
