I ran Corey Satten's benchmark test on my Callan Data Systems Unistar 200,
just to see what everyone's idea of the "slow" 7300 is.  Not having seen the
7300 in the flesh, I wanted to check things out.

The 7300 blows the doors off my Callan.

First, let me preface these results by saying that I am, to some extent,
comparing apples & oranges.  A quick rundown of the Callan: 8mhZ 68000,
512K memory, UniPlus v7/SysIII, 21mb disk (90ms...painful).  Basically, I
consider the kernel v7; nothing virtual going on.

Here goes:

Looks like the Callan is quite a bit slower than the 7300; I expect I
should check out the 7300 before upgrading the Unistar (I was considering
>1mb memory and a 30ms drive).  Seems like my money would be better spent
finding something with a bit more speed!  (That might be the 7300 simply
based on price, but we'll see...)
