I suspect that anyone who fired one in an enclosed space (e.g. indoors) without ear protection would permanently damage their hearing. Of course, when you are faced with the threat of a possibly armed intruder, this becomes a secondary consideration, but its worth thinking about when choosing a gun for home defense.
