Oof!  I thought I was good, but this gives me so little to go on.  I
think that FANTASTIC PLANET sort of fills the bill.  It was released in
this country in 1973 and has giant aliens with blue flesh and red eyes
inhabiting the Earth.  But it is an animated film, and you'd think that
fact would stick out in your friend's mind.  Any more details that you
can remember?  Anything?
