*** Folk Music Lives ***

It is with a sad heart that I must report that Joe Val, the lead singer
of Joe Val and the New England Bluegrass Boys passed away last week of
cancer. Probably the greatest 'pure' bluegrass tenor voice north of the
Mason-Dixon line, Joe's voice and humility will be sorely missed. Joe's
discography is somewhat limited, but there was the "Beatles Country" album
in the late 60's, and 5 records on the Rounder label over the last 10 years.
Bluegrass music is a music of the heart, and my heart will ache every time
I hear a group do 'Daniel Prayed' when I think of the way it 'used to sound'.

Joe, you're gonna be missed.
