Granted, it sounds a bit stilted, but the article 'the' is now justified, refer- ring as it does to a PARTICULAR item. But most (including AT&T :-)) would be happier with 'the Unix operating system' or similar phrase used in place of plain 'the Unix' in the example. D. Levy AT&T Teletype Corp. ^^^^ Skokie, Ill.
