Since life has chosen to beat me I will not try and resist Let the lash fall hard and painful And I can bleed to death For I have been give an ugly world To work and receive no reward I can not complain, just obey Relieve the burdens of another And so my spirit will die Trample as the other reaches the top I will leave only the shell To do as told, obey and survive But is this survival, in losing self To sacrifice what makes me alive For the preservation of the other And why does the other ask this of me I will continue, must continue For a time, so short is time Release me from this torment Give me the freedom to fly Mary Hauck This may be the last I publish for a while on the net. I become a housewife on June 29. I have my husband login to use, but I don't know how much I want to write now, we'll see. Thank you for all the wonderful responses, comments and conversations that I have had since starting on net.poems. Mary Hauck
