Where is that number, hidden under "murders?" Tell me how eliminating guns is going to stop the 16,575 suicides from taking their lives with the other dangerous instruments that are available. Also, "murders" is presumably based on the FBI Uniform Crime Reports --- where "murder" includes all crimes charged. In fact, a lot of people charged with "murder" manage to demonstrate to a jury that they were defending themselves from attack.
