Being the batter and striking out doesn't count since you can't be credited with a triple play that way. You have to be one of the fielders. How about if you are chasing a baserunner, (he thinks you have the ball, but you really don't), and he passes the runner in front of him? That's against the rules, but I don't know what the penalty is. If the runner is automatically out, does the fielder who did the chasing get credited with the out? If so then you could get a triple play if you chased three runners past the runner at third. Not likely, huh? - Bill Cambre
