The fact is that some folks here were thinking about buying a HEP -- John McCarthy's group, I believe. My advisor (David Cheriton) was asked to go along when they went out to look at the HEP and evaluate it. I believe the consensus was that the HEP was certainly fast, but not very suitable for parallel Lisp (McCarthy's interest) due to its instruction-set architecture, so I don't think we'll be getting one. --Tim
