Reminds me strongly of a story which circulated among us when we were kids, called "The Green China Doll". There were, as with any good folk story, as many versions as tellers. Some years later, I was given a phone call by a woman who was collecting versions of the story for her dissertation on folklore. Do you know a version of it? Leigh Ann
