In the interests of even-handedness I'd like to point out that being a deadbeat is not an exclusive male perogative. The amounts I lost to various women added up to multiple thousands of dollars over the years when I was young and _very_ foolish (these days I like to think I'm young and just a _little_ foolish (-: ). The best I could do was write it off my taxes as bad debt and let it go. I've since stopped adopting stray people and learned to listen empathetically without reaching for my wallet.
