Here are the usual results: Me: "Hi. Would you like to dance?" Them: "No." Well, once again we were standing around at a local dancing emporium, and we were not doing any dancing. Standing around and not dancing is anathema to me, because I love to dance. As the night wore on, the lack of dancing was causing me great mental and physical distress, so when I spied two young women who were also standing around and not dancing, I grit my teeth, muttered "Oh what the hell, let's try again", and walked over to them. Here's the classic line: Me: "Hi, would you like to dance? I don't even want to talk to you, I just want to dance." Miracles! They danced with with us. While we danced, my friend's dancing partner leaned over (I'm pretty short) and said, "That was a great line." And sure enough, the young women danced with us, then after the dance they moved to the other side of the bar and did not talk to us. Which is what I wanted, because I'm a dancing sort of guy. P.S.: To give credit where credit is due, I must thank my friend Jackie for the classic line; she also is a dancing fool, so she wanted to have a T-shirt printed with the phrase "I don't want to talk, I just want to dance." P.S.S.: Hey, if you live in the Chicagoland area, and like to dance, give me a call. -- ----------------------------------------------------------------- John Takao Collier ..ihnp4!ihu1h!takao 1-312-979-3278 ATT Bell Labs, Naperville-Wheaton Road, Naperville, IL 60566
