Let me clear up a few things about myself. I don't go around asking every woman I meet what her IQ is. When I meet someone who I think I'd like to go out with (based on criteria that are mostly unconscious and may include how lonely I am at the time) I'll talk with them a while and ask them out if they seem interesting. If we get along well, fine. If not, oh, well. My experience has been that I tend to get along best with those who, in my opinion, are of fairly high intelligence. I get fewer blank looks and have to do a lot less explaining of things. We have much more in common (books, theater, etc.). Note that I'm open to these qualities, and others, in anyone I meet. They just seem to be more common among those with above average intelligence. (Admittedly, I set a high standard. And why not?) Joining Mensa was something I did to help narrow the search. The first thing I discovered there was that a high IQ is no guarantee of intelligence (or much of anything else). Nevertheless, I've met some very interesting people at their meetings and have had relationships with a number of women I've met there over the years. Whether I'd have done as well with any other organization, I can't say. I barely have room in my life for Mensa these days (Full-time work + half-time school = not much social life). BTW, for those who've been to one or two Mensa parties and found them disappointing, keep trying. They aren't all boring disasters. I also recommend the Regional Gatherings. Sexes there tend to be more evenly mixed and the organized activities make it easier to meet people. -- -_-_-_-_-_-_-_-_-_-_-_-_-_-_-_-_-_-_-_-_-_-_-_-_-_-_-_-_-_-_-_-_-_-_-_-_-_-_-_- The Polymath (aka: Jerry Hollombe) Citicorp TTI "How goes the rat race?" 3100 Ocean Park Blvd. "The rats are winning."
