They are chasing someone they don't know, and perhaps don't care to know. I'd rather be "chased" for me, i.e., for something that distinguishes me more than merely being a football hero. For a personal reason. Besides, airheads who chase jocks are of little interest to me. I could care less if younger boys came up to me and said that they would like to grow up like me. I'd likely get annoyed and tell them that they needn't be like anyone. I'd much prefer them asking me questions about life, if anything.
