What we need more than anything is money to keep our computers (currently 18 VAXen) on the job, but the maintenance money in the first grant was cut in half, because the Canadian Government's National Science and Engineering Research Council, the granting agency, does not look with favor on DEC maintenance contracts. We limped along for three years, and now we are asking for money again. In order to surrender to the NSERC's view and go in-house, or alternatively to fight it out with them toe-to-toe, we need facts and figures. I would appreciate learning the name and phone number of any person responsible for the finances and/or technicalities of maintaining a similar number of VAXen, in-house, in a university environment.
