It isn't a DBMS in and of itself; rather, it allows you to open a generic thing called a "structure," and access fields of the current record within the structure. A structure is simply a database of any type. All type checking, data packing and unpacking, output formatting (edit masking), etc. is done by the language, INTOUCH. The programmer need not know anything about the underlying structure of the database itself.
