I saw the 1040 at Service Merchendise for about $188 bucks and to me that is a bargain. I have heard that the Magnavox models are actually made by Phillips, is this true? Since my budget is kind of limited, i do not want to spend over $250 right now. But if anyone has any alternitive suggestions to the Magnavox that is in my price range, please let me know. The player itself seemed very sturdy to me, but was light on features. The salesman told me that there is an audible differance among differant CD players, and that he would recomend the Sony model that sold for $249 (not an exact figure). Everything that I have read on the Net tells me that there is almost no audible differance in CD players (on the lower end of the price scale), so I kind of doubted what he said. Also if anyone knows of any reviews on the 1040 please let me know. Feel free to send me mail, or post replys on the Net. Thanks in advance . Bitnet: GOT@PSUVM
