In my car, the ash tray and lighter have a cover plate over them. I simply removed the ash tray, and installed the radio. When I need access to the radio, it involves flipping up a cover, which stays up while driving, and I just close it when I park. If someone can't see a stereo, they will probably not feel like breaking in to find it, even if they can see speakers. Also, since my car is a '72, the dash is mostly metal, and it was tough to get in, probably almost as hard to rip out. (:-)) -cmm
