I own a thule rack which I use for my Sailboard. The rack was about $50 and the attachments vary. I bought the sailboard attachment which was about $40. I think it's a great system and it has saved me a lot of time and it's worth whatever it costs when you think about what the value is of what you're transporting and the time you save with an efficient system
