He is part owner of a C182. He and several of the other partners are also ham radio operators. Thus, they have a 2 meter rig on board their plane with ground patch capability. Seems one of the partners was out flying when the plane suffered a communication failure. So the pilot did what any ham operator would do, he called up the tower on the telephone! It took several minutes to convince the controller that the phone call was for real.
