Berra Stephen Roche of Ireland won the morning time trial stage by over a minute to close to within 3:33 of Hinault. This years race has been one of the closest Tour's in years with the top ten riders all within 12 minutes of the leader Hinault. Greg Lemond continues to close ground on Hinault. However, it is doubtful that Greg will pass Bernard since they both ride for the same team. Steve Bauer of Canada slips to 15th place after the last couple mountain stages.
