Because of his fitness, I expect Boyer spent significantly less time than the others and went faster. As correctly noted, by Mike Walpole I think, Boyer's 1.6% winning margin is irrelevant. A competitor goes only as hard as necessary to win. Why bother overdoing it, unless it is a record attempt. I imagine Boyer could have gone even faster. It seems that most riders train for RAAM by conditioning for maximum riding time rather than speed. Bye the way, you guys can't spell.
