The reason for the complaint has to do with MV/UX's attempts to protect the L.sys file. Without setuid, MV/UX cannot use the traditional protection mechanism, so it protects the file in another directory (/usr/lib/uucpsys), and expects that publicly available information will be provided in a "sister" file named pubsys. If you look at your release notice for MV/UX, Joel, you will notice that there is a section that asks you to ) become uucp ) x uusys ) bye while in the /usr/lib/uucp directory. uusys, when run by uucp (so that you can access the L.sys file), creates the pubsys file. It contains the first column of the L.sys file (i.e., systems you talk to). -- Randy D. Smith (919) 248-6136 Data General, Research Triangle Park, NC !mcnc!rti-sel!rtp47!smithrd
