We have an 11/780 running V3.7 of VMS, talking to an 11/750 running 4.2 Bsd from Mt Xinu, in Berkeley. I have been trying to get a package called uvcp, from Microtel to work, but I am having some problems with it. Going from the unix side, running uucico in the debug mode (-x9), it does log into the VMS system, but we get the following sequence; % uucico -r1 -x9 -sVMS uucp desteng (7/29-13:38-29217) DEBUG (ENABLED) finds called getto called call: no. tty05 for sys VMS uucp VMS (7/29-13:38-29217) getto: using DIR login called wanted "" got that send \r\d\d RETURN DELAY DELAY wanted name: \012\015\012\015Username:got that send uvcp\d DELAY wanted word: \015\012\015Username: UVCP\015\012Password:got that send user uucp VMS (7/29-13:39-29217) SUCCEEDED (call to VMS ) imsg > \015\012Previous logical name assignment replaced\015\020< Shere\000imsg >\020< ROK\000msg-ROK Rmtname VMS, Role MASTER, Ifn - 6, Loginuser - uucp rmesg - 'P' imsg >\020< Pg\000got Pg wmesg 'U'g send 73 rec h->cntl 73 send 61 state - 1 rec h->cntl 61 send 53 state - 3 rec h->cntl 53 state - 10 Proto started g protocol g uucp VMS (7/29-13:39-29217) OK (startup) *** TOP *** - role=1, bfoss VMS (7/29-13:39-29217) REQUEST (S D.destengB04t2 D.destengB04t2 bfoss) expfile type - 0wrktype - S wmesg 'S' D.destengB04t2 D.desteng send 37777777610 rmesg - 'S' alarm 1 send 37777777610 alarm 2 send 37777777610 alarm 3 send 37777777610 alarm 4 send 37777777610 alarm 5 send 37777777610 tries = 5 got FAIL bfoss VMS (7/29-13:42-29217) BAD READ (expected 'S' got FAIL) send 40 send 10 send 10 cntrl - -1 bfoss VMS (7/29-13:42-29217) FAILED (conversation complete) send OO -1,imsg >8\000\033\035=\012\000\000\033H\035\035=\030\031,\015\000\000~\0 00^o\017>\036\015\000O\000Obfoss VMS (7/29-13:43-29217) TIMEOUT (VMS) exit code 0 It looks like the initial handshaking takes place, but then it just hangs. After enabling the unix port, the results from the vms to unix link is; $ uucico -r1 -x9 -sunix gdial called finds called getto called call: no. txa0 for sys unix $ and thats it, it just quits. If anyone has any suggestions, or is familiar with the uvcp package, I would sure appreciate any advice. Thank you in advance. Brad Foss 3comvax!desteng!bfoss
