I have managed to grow it here in Rochester, NY, although the climate isn't ideal for it. It is worth growing even if you hate okra - the flowers are very pretty and resemble a hibiscus flower (I forget, okra may be part of the same family). I suspect you could even grow it in a container if you don't have space for a garden; just be sure to use a fairly large pot and put it in full sun.
