That statement can be misinterpreted several ways. For the same trip I would agree that, yes, the freeway is the safest way to go .... BUT, I find crowded situations such as rush hour near Denver to be so chaotic that I WOULD NOT ride my bike there. We just have too many lane swooping maniacs all packed into too small a space (stop-and-go traffic) to be able to defend against them all.
