Chicago - Computation Center Lines: 40 > various lines about the problems of UPS that I forgot to insert, > essentially saying that UPS sucks and that you should use u.s. mail Here at Doc films we generally use UPS since they will come every day to check and see if we have packages to send out. They are nice about leaving packages, and will leave them at another office if we are not it. We have used UPS for YEARS and they have never lost a film. The one time that I had to use usmail, I had the following wonderful experience: 1) I sent the film (insured, of course) 2) 4 weeks later it still hadn't arrived, so I checked with the P.O. They said that I had to wait another week before filing a claim (UPS always gets the film there in under a week). 3) When I went to make the claim a week later, they made me fill out the form that the p.o. clerk was suppossed to fill out. Then they told me that they needed a copy of my insurance receipt. They told me that they would let me know in "a few months". 4) Well, a few months later, Doc got a letter saying that they had decided that maybe they had lost the package, so they sent us a form to send to the person who should have received the package, and then we have to send that form (after it is signed) along with a proof of purchase of the film and our ORIGINAL insurance receipt and then perhaps they will pay us. ~time for refund (if it ever comes) will be about half a year. The one time that I had any trouble with UPS was when they returned a film by mistake, and they agreed to ship it NEXT DAY AIR, with no charge. Sorry to clutter net.flame, but USmail is infinitely worse than UPS. -- Samuel Rebelsky (SamR) @ DOC Films - The nation's oldest student film group ...!ihnp4!gargoyle!sphinx!r032 (it's at the University of Chicago) x9.xsr%UChicago.Mailnet@MIT-Multics.arpa "You fill me with Inertia."
