Lines: 24 Xref: linus net.flame:10322 net.followup:4225 People are complaining about Dylan's comments regarding saving the American farmers by giving some $ to help them with their mortgages. He has a fine idea, and I don't think it's nearly as inappropriate as everyone is making it out to be. This was a concert to help starving people, right? While I understand that much (most?-- I'm a city kid, I don't know exactly how much comes from where) of the food we eat comes from big farm combines, a certain amount of it certainly comes from small farms. These guys are having a tough time. And we are sending all this money outside the country. Doesn't look good from their point of view. There are also lots of people starving in THIS country. Helping out some of those farmers couldn't hurt them ('course we already have big stockpiles of food stored away anyway, but just the same...) Anyway, if Dylan got up and said that we should send some of the money to ...oh, dandruff research, that would be real inappropriate, but he didn't...he picked something relevant to Live-Aid, and something closer to home! --Evan Marcus -- {ucbvax|decvax}!vax135!petsd!petfe!evan ...!pedsgd!pedsga!evan Just to hit the ball and touch 'em all A moment in the sun It's gone, and you can tell that one goodbye.
