A friend sent 6 20-pound cartons of books to my new address via UPS because I hadn't had time to pack them. I got one of those little yellow slips & called UPS to arrange a delivery date, only to be told that they were SENDING MY STUFF BACK WHERE IT HAD COME FROM. They had finally gotten around to weighing it, and had decided that 120 lbs. of stuff was too much for an individual to receive by UPS in one day. I offered to come by and pick it up in 2 or 3 or 6 trips. No, they said, that wasn't the problem. An individual wasn't supposed to be able to SEND that much in one day either. What were they going to do with my possessions, I asked? Send them back across the country and let my friend start over. That was the only way to conform to the rules. Did I have to pay for the retransmission? No, of course not! But they were going to send my things 9000 miles before I could get them back? Uh-huh! I yelled at them for a while, they said no way, I hung up. The next day, all 6 cartons were on my doorstep.
